Locate Network Devices

Go to your building's Communications/Electrical Closet. 

You should be able to locate the following devices:

• Your ADSL or Cable Modem
• Your Internet Router
• One or more Network Switches (a flat box with Ethernet ports in it)

A typical setup looks like this:

Wiring into building > Modem > Router > Switches or other Devices

In some cases, the Modem and Router are one singular device:

Wiring into building > All-in-One Router > Switches or other Devices
